It’s that time again, time to pull out the Christmas gift list for chronic pain.

Budget
- Freezer meal
Cooking is one of the hardest things to keep up with when you live with chronic pain. There’s no better gift than a meal that can be popped out of the freezer and put in the oven. One year for Christmas I made my Grandpa a lasagna and split it up into individualized portions so he could just grab them quickly and heat up what he wanted to eat. He loved it!
2. Warm and fuzzy robe
Winter is on it’s way, and there’s nothing better than snuggling up in the perfect fuzzy robe.
3. Coffee mug
Check out this adorable spoonie mug. There’s so many cute budget options out there. Throw in some hot chocolate and you’ve got the perfect budget gift.
4. A day off
One of my readers shared that her husband gave her a coupon for 5 days off. On those days he would take care of the family and the house 100% so she could rest guilt free. I think everyone with chronic illness or chronic pain deserves this. Best of all, anyone can give it because it doesn’t cost any money.
5. Fuzzy slippers
Everyone needs some fuzzy slippers to go with their fuzzy robe.
Midrange
6. Heated or weighted blanket
I couldn’t decide which one I liked better so I’m recommending both. I’ve talked about a weighted blanket before and how amazing they are. But a heated blanket is also very helpful for pain since it’s basically a giant heating pad that as a side benefit keeps you warm.
7. Foam roller
This trigger point foam roller is a handy gadget to have around. I actually forgot I owned one for a while, but one really bad pain day I remembered it and decided to give it a try and it felt amazing. It doesn’t cure pain of course, but it’s a handy tool.
8.Deep tissue hand massager
This is one of the best things I own (besides my weighted blanket). While the real dream is to have a massage chair, this handy massager does a great job. It makes it easy for me to massage my legs and my back. I bought it for myself, but my husband has been known to steal it when he needs a good massage
9. Quality pillow
There’s nothing worse than waking up with a stiff neck when you’re already in a lot of pain. A real quality pillow can lead to a good nights sleep. My personal favorite is my gel memory foam pillow. I’ve had mine for 5 years and it’s just as comfortable as it was when I bought it.
10. Gift cards to stores that deliver
Whether it be a grocery store or a restaurant that does takeout, a gift card that allows for home delivery would be an amazing present for someone with chronic pain.
Splurge
11. Audible gift membership
This can be a splurge gift, or it can be a budget gift depending on the length of time you purchase. An audible gift membership is a great gift for someone in pain. People in pain need distractions, and sometimes reading a physical book is too difficult because of brain fog. Having access to such a huge variety of audio books could keep someone in pain distracted for a long time!
12. Monthly massage
This is the true dream of anyone that lives with chronic pain. Our muscles tense up when we hurt, which leads to hurting even more. Finding a masseuse that is educated about pain is a must.
13. House cleaning service
I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t love this gift. Cleaning when you have chronic pain is a never ending battle that you know you are losing.
14. Pedicure
There’s nothing more relaxing than going to a nail salon and having someone rub your feet while you’re in a massage chair. Even if you don’t care what your toes look like, it’s nice to be waited on and pampered. Every spoonie deserves to be pampered once in a while.
15. Robot Vacuum
This was on my list last year, but my Roomba continues to be one of the favorite things that I own. I have a lot of tile in my house, and I have two kids that like to mess it up. I use my Roomba every day to clean up the dirt and grass they track in. It saves me so much energy that I would’ve wasted vacuuming with a traditional vacuum.

Awesome Ideas!
I love this!!!! Especially the guilt free days off. I no longer have kids at home but sometimes I still struggle through the day. My mom has moved in with us and at 94 she gives me my guilt free days off. She does the laundry, cooks and waters the flowers outside! She is amazing!
Also, the robot vacuum would be awesome!
Great suggestions! I’ve got a few of these on my gift guide posts. Oddly enough I didn’t include the two things you have that I love getting at Christmas (well, that I buy for myself at Christmas ?) – new dressing gown and slipper boots!
xx
Great ideas! I have the Roomba and I will never ever part with it. It is a pricey investment but so worth it. Right now on QVC they are selling a high end one for only $400.00. Much cheaper than we paid.
I also have one extra suggestion for a gift. Because of my pain, I have found sheets to be very painful. The only ones I can sleep on now are the Berkshire Velvet Sheet set. Not flannel, but a velveteen. They are so soft and no more pain from scratchy sheets!
The massager looks like a definite buy for me. Has anyone tried those light stimulators that is supposed to be good for pain? Does it work?
Ooo velveteen sheets, such a good idea. I used to have some satin sheets years ago before chronic pain/illness came into my life, but hadn’t thought of something like that since. Might have to give velveteen a try. I always thought Roomba would be a bit of a fad but it seems hugely popular. I’ve included it in my upcoming gift guide post. I bought a cordless stick vac the other year which was pricey but such a good investment. Not tried the light stimulators, Debi, so I’m afraid I can’t help there. I wonder if there are any other bloggers who have and might have reviewed one? xx
